Here’s a maker I think a lot more people are going to be hearing about. Asurah Knives is the work of Riki Hagino, an up-and-coming Japanese maker and member of JKG Manufacturing.
What I really like about Riki is that he doesn’t seem interested in staying in one lane. He makes everything from traditional utility knives and kitchen pieces to outdoor knives, and somehow manages to put his own touch on all of them.
There’s a ton of talent here. Being able to jump between completely different styles and still execute at a high level isn’t easy. Riki is one of those younger Japanese makers we’re really excited to watch, and I have a feeling you’ll be seeing a lot more from him.
